Kamalakkannan Govindaraj hails from a family of musical greats. His father, Govindaraj Pillai, was a famous Natheswaram vidwan. His three brothers are also world renowned musicians that are ranked amongst the best in India. Mr. Kamalakkannan started his Miruthangam journey at an early age and has learned from some great vidwans including Vazhuvoor V.P. Ramathas, Karaikudi V.M. Ganesh Iyer and Kanchipuram C.V. Veerasamipillai.
